Custom Flight Case Panels
Our flight case panels come in standard thicknesses of 7mm, 9mm and 13mm and we also use a 4.5mm panel for some of our modular briefcases. There are a variety of panel types now used by flight case manufacturers and here are some of the most common used at Condor Cases:
Astoboard: this is a polypropylene honeycomb panel which is 40% lighter than the equivalent wood. Being plastic this panel tends to flex rather than crack when hit hard, making it lightweight and tough. It is available in 4.5mm Black, 7mm Black, Blue, Red, Silver and 10mm Black.
PVC: available as smooth or rigid (textured) PVC and on either far eastern or birch ply, it comes in the same colours as the astoboard and is available in 4.5mm, 7mm, 9mm and 13mm.
Laminate: a tougher option to the PVC again available in 7mm, 9mm and 13mm far eastern a birch ply but with a wider range of colours to choose from.
Hexagrip: a birch ply overlaid with a phenol or UV resistant film on both faces. One face has a special hexagon surface pattern, the reverse is smooth and it’s available in 7mm, 9mm 13mm.
At extra cost we can also vinyl wrap some panels to offer a truly bespoke flight case.
Custom Flight Case Extrusions:
Condor Cases prefer to use a double angle extrusion known as casemaker for the majority of their flight cases. This makes for a stronger case, faster and simpler construction and any damage to panels can easily be replaced. They are available in 7mm, 9mm and 13mm.
Single angle is used when a more water and weather sealed flight case is needed and Condor Cases also produce an alu-side case using extrusions designed to create a briefcase style case. These extrusions are known as basemaker and comes in 80mm, 100mm and 120mm and lidmaker that comes in 45mm, which gives an internal height of 105mm, 125mm and 145mm.
Custom Flight Case Internals:
Interiors of flight cases may vary from a simple stained trunk to foam linings, partitions, drawers and rackstrip for 19″ rack mount equipment. We can also supply intricate CNC routed foam inserts designed to provide full yet economic protection for your equipment.Shock loads to delicate equipment can be controlled to a specified maximum ‘G’ by careful selection of foam densities and the relative area/volume ratio of the foam.
